DanceStar UK. Billed as the ‘Oscars Of Electronic Music’ DanceStar is a global brand created to showcase the world’s best DJ and music talent; recognizing their achievements in Electronic Dance Music (“EDM”). Founded in 2000, the event was first launched in London at the historic Alexandra Palace. World Online (Tiscali) served as the presenting sponsor for three consecutive years, with each event broadcast on the UK’s Channel 4 and MTV Europe; with a combined global audience reach of 300 million homes in more than 48 countries.
DanceStar USA launched in 2002 in Miami during the Winter Music Conference and by 2004 had become the world’s most widely broadcast EDM event in history, including MTV2 in America, MTV Europe and Star Channel Asia reaching more than 500 million households globally in 55 countries. The award winners were decided by the fans, with over 650,000 online voters. Award winners included, Madonna, Fat Boy Slim and Tiesto. The Hosts included Hollywood Celebrities and superstar DJ’s Juliette Lewis and Carmen Electra and Roger Sanchez. Award presenters included Lenny Kravitz, Moby, D12, P. Diddy, and Yoko Ono.
