Known for their flamboyant live performances and camp disco hits, US group Scissors Sisters are back with their latest record.

"Magic Hour" is album number 4, and in the words of lead singer Ana Matronic continues where number 2 left off.

SOUNDBITE: Ana Matronic, Scissor Sisters, saying (English):

"This record is definitely I think in keeping with the spirit of our first two albums. The third one, Nightwork, was a bit more of a departure or, I should say maybe a little bit more cohesive in its sounds. And this one we're back to genre hoping and -- it's more of a melange of sounds if you will."

The album launched on Monday (May 28) in the UK.

Other band members joined the lead singer for a launch event at a London record store, where fans had formed long queues to meet their idols.

"Magic Hour" also features a number of collaborations. "Only the Horses" was produced by Calvin Harris.

US rapper Pharrell Williams worked on the disco homage "Inevitable". According to Babydaddy, he wanted to help open new doors to the band.

SOUNDBITE: Babydaddy, on working with Pharrell Williams, saying (English):

"I think he came in with a bit of an agenda. I think he really believes in the band. He said you know he basically was making it a goal to get Scissor Sisters on black radio which I thought was a very interesting challenge."

With the latest Scissor Sisters tunes hitting record shelves and dance floors, a new tour is also on the cards.

The band will bring their live shows to the US in the summer and return to the UK in the autumn.
