Firefighters tackle blazes in northern Portugal

STORY: The Portuguese Civil Protection agency on Friday said it registered more than 300 fires in the north of Portugal in the last 24 hours.

The blaze causing the most concern for firefighters is in São Pedro do Sul, Viseu.

More than 150 firefighters backed by 40 vehicles are fighting the fire but the fire brigade complain of lack of staff, especially during the night.

While the north is covered in fire, the south of Portugal is experience rain and hail.
