Germany’s armed forces, the Bundeswehr, is continuing to shrink in size as part of an ongoing reform programme. That also means that fewer and fewer barracks are needed. Often the vast grounds with huge halls are impossible to sell. But in Hohenkirchen in northern Germany, an ingenious entrepreneur is setting up a huge recreational park on the site of the former barracks.
