Elmer Grosso & His Orchestra - Fascinating Devil

Although this 1930 disc was poorly recorded and preserved, I decided to share this rarely heard song. Elmer Grosso was a versatile orchestra leader and multi-instrumentalist on trumpet and violin, who cut many sides for Columbia as a member of a group known as the Happy Six, but led an array of other bands like Elmer Grosso & His Versatile Orchestra, Elmer Grosso's Mount Royal Orchestra, Elmer Grosso & His Greenwich Village Orchestra, Elmer Grosso & His Crusaders and the Champion Dance Kings. Between 1926 and 1930 his band cut a few dozen sides for Richmond, Indiana based Gennett Records. Most of Grosso's Gennett recordings were also issued on the company's Champion, Superior and Supertone subsidiary labels as well as its flagship Gennett label. At some point Grosso retired from the music industry and moved to Hollywood, where he was successful in the real estate industry. The vocalists singing the refrain were Ed Smalle (photos included) and Jerry Macy, totally unknown to me.
