Russia: Climate Change versus Health | Global 3000

The Nenets people of Russia, who herd reindeer high in the northern Arctic, are suffering the effects of climate change. Their homeland is changing, as the permafrost continues to melt - and that means that herders are often cut off from medical care for longer periods during the summer.
The indigenous nomads of the Archangel Oblast are forced to herd their reindeer onto summer pastures earlier - and to keep them there longer. That means they spend more time away from regular medical care and they face growing difficulties finding food. Leonid Subov, a doctor and researcher at the Institute of Polar Medicine in Archangel, goes north to check up on the Nenets people.
