Glee confirm Britney Spears episode

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that plans for a Britney Spears-themed episode will go ahead.

Murphy told TVGuide.com that, rather fittingly, McKinley High's Brittany has been selected to play the popstar and is expected to sing two of her hits.

In a previous interview with E! Online, Heather Morris said: "I heard there's a Britney Spears episode coming up and fingers crossed that I get to sing, because I play Brittany and I'm like, 'Oh my god, it's insane".

Madonna and Lady Gaga have already had the Glee effect and Ryan Murphy is also reportedly working on episodes featuring the music of Coldplay and Janet Jackson.

The Britney Spears special is expected to be the second episode to air next season.
