A New Forest for Georgia | Global 3000

The Caucasus: From glaciers and forests to deserts and steppes, the region has a unique ecological profile. And it's home to some animal species that don't exist anywhere else in the world - and plant life that is now otherwise only found in botanical gardens.
The Worldwide Fund for Nature or WWF lists the Caucasus in the Global 200, the world's most important ecological regions. But unregulated development is threatening to destroy this diversity. Now, reforestation efforts are taking place on about 150 hectares of land in eastern Georgia.
