Henry King's Hotel Pierre Orchestra - Call Of Love

Henry King was the leader of a popular hotel/society style dance band in the 1930s-'40s. King's piano was featured prominently in the band's arrangements. Throughout the band's top years in the '30s, the only featured vocalist was Joseph Sudy (who later led his own band with a style very similar to King's). In the late 1930's and into the '40s, King abandoned his familiar style and switched to mostly Latin America music. In 1936-'37, the band was on the 'Burns and Allen Radio Show'. Henry King appeared in the 1945 film "Out of This World", along with other popular pianist bandleaders of the day. He remained active in music through the 1950s, but not prominently. This is an early 1934 recording with, as said before, Sudy on vocal.
