00:00Senior Constable Jordan Weston walked into Picton local court this morning wearing a
00:06face mask and sunglasses in front of the cameras.
00:09The 28-year-old was charged earlier this month with 11 domestic violence offences against
00:14his former partner, including six counts of assault and three counts of stalking or intimidation.
00:20He's also facing 14 counts of illegally accessing the police database, allegedly to obtain information
00:26about his ex-partner, her family and people she had previous relationships with.
00:31When Jordan Weston was charged two weeks ago, he was immediately granted bail by police
00:36and did not have to face court to apply.
00:39Court documents show the woman was initially reluctant to make a police statement out of
00:44fear of repercussions and told officers she fears for her current safety and is unsure
00:50of what he would do or what he is capable of.
00:53In most cases, police have the discretion to grant bail to someone charged with a crime
00:57or to keep them in custody until a court decides.
01:01We would have applied the bail law to the officer the same as we would have applied
01:04it to anyone else.
01:06Mr Weston remains suspended from the force with pay and will face court again next month.
