00:00 In a huge breakaway group, packed with climbing talent, he's blown them all apart!

00:17 Stage 11 and a long chance for the sprinters.

00:25 207km in total with a finish down at the Adriatic coast in Francavilla al Mare.

00:32 Lots of sprinters still to taste victory in the three opportunities that had come the way of the fast men in the peloton so far.

00:41 When the flag dropped, Thomas Champignons of Cofidis was the first rider to attack on a day where the odds were stacked against a breakaway.

00:49 He was joined then by Edoardo Affini of Visma Lisa Bike and his teammate Tim Van Dijk.

00:56 Those three riders then built up a slender advantage over a peloton that was wary of the tailwind that was blowing across the course all day.

01:05 A tailwind in the final and a cross tailwind when they got to the Adriatic coast.

01:10 They went over the top of the only categorized climb of the day at Pietra Cattella together, where Simon Geschke picked up one point for fourth place from the peloton

01:20 to close the gap to Tadej Pogačar in the King of the Mountains competition.

01:24 And then bit by bit, they dropped down towards the coast and the series of intermediate sprints on the Adriatic.

01:32 The first of which, the three riders had an advantage of one minute and 51 seconds and Jonathan Mieland won the sprint ahead of Caden Groves for fourth and fifth place respectively.

01:45 At this point in the race with a strong tailwind, the riders believed that they might have a slender chance of doing something spectacular.

01:53 But the peloton kept them on a very, very tight leash as they hit the coast.

02:01 Then at the Intergiro, Thomas Champignon just went off the front to take the Intergiro sprint at San Salvo Marina,

02:07 ahead of his two companions in this three rider breakaway with an advantage of only 40 seconds.

02:14 There was a sprint behind, contested by Caden Groves as well as Filippo Fiorelli.

02:22 One intermediate sprint remaining.

02:25 But the breakaway wouldn't make it to Fossaccesia Marina for that intermediate sprint.

02:30 They caught in the final kilometre before the final bonus sprint with Luke Plappe of J.K. Alula.

02:36 That provoked a sprint for the bonus seconds, Geraint Thomas passing over the line in second place to pick up two bonus seconds.

02:43 Then an attack from Andrea Piccolo, a crash for Felix Großschartner and for Kevin Wermarke of DSM.

02:50 Piccolo was neutralised as Lidl Trek set the pace on the run into the final 10 kilometres and an approach to Francavilla al Mare.

03:00 Lightning fast pace and in the final three kilometres, the Ineos Grenadiers had Geraint Thomas piloted towards the front for safety.
