00:00 Mark Hayden remains on parole at the Adelaide Pre-Release Centre in Northfield.
00:07 He's allowed into the community for daily excursions under his parole conditions, but
00:11 must return before curfew.
00:13 That's one of six restrictions currently placed on him by the Parole Board.
00:17 The Government has been attempting in the Supreme Court to have Hayden placed on an
00:21 extended supervision order, allowing him to be monitored beyond May 20, when his 25-year
00:27 sentence ends.
00:28 It would be similar in nature to what the parole conditions are in terms of where you
00:32 can go, any curfews, the times you have to be at home, the ability to enter a licensed
00:39 premises not using drugs or alcohol.
00:41 Ongoing delays in court though mean time is running out for the Government to have its
00:45 order imposed before Hayden's release, prompting the Solicitor-General, Mike Waite KC, to tell
00:51 the court this morning Hayden should be placed on an interim supervision order.
00:56 That order, according to Hayden's lawyer, Sam Abbott KC, would result in the 65-year-old
01:01 being placed on more onerous restrictions than the current parole provisions.
01:06 There are further negotiations that are occurring between the lawyers for the Government and
01:10 Mark Hayden's lawyers about what those exact terms might look like.
01:15 Hayden is one of four men jailed over the notorious Snowtown or Bodies in the Barrels
01:19 murders in which 11 people were killed, including Hayden's wife, Elizabeth.
01:24 He was found guilty of seven counts of assisting the main offenders.
01:28 Hayden will return to court to learn what, if any conditions, will be placed on him on
01:32 May 15.
