00:00 Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office.
00:03 Remaining very cold through the next few days with further snow showers.
00:07 That warning extends through until Thursday with some severe frost.
00:11 The source of the air is coming in from the Arctic.
00:13 You can see it's just streaming down across the UK.
00:17 Many areas though seeing dry weather through the next few days.
00:20 It's really the northern half of the UK seeing those snow showers and the winds will pick
00:25 up on Friday with some showery bursts coming in across Scotland.
00:29 And then into the weekend we do see a change in our weather.
00:32 The air is turning less cold and we'll see some wet and windy conditions.
00:35 For the time being, here's your warning zone through Wednesday.
00:39 An additional 20cm of snow likely across the north as well as the west associated with
00:44 snow showers pushing down across Northern Ireland.
00:47 The risk of ice, the legacy of snow which we're seeing through Tuesday evening and overnight
00:52 and further snow showers moving in on that breeze coming in across the North Channel
00:56 down towards the north west of England as well as northern parts of Wales.
00:59 Through Tuesday evening this feature here is an area of snow and rain and snow towards
01:04 the coast.
01:05 It's pushing and clearing across central and southern parts of Scotland moving in across
01:08 northern counties of England and a mix of rain and snow along the coastline of northern
01:13 parts of Wales but inland yes you'll see some snow there.
01:16 A dusting further south as it weakens but certainly 2 to 5cm likely across Scotland
01:21 as well as northern England through Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.
01:25 It's a widespread frost as well, temperatures well below freezing and across the snow fields
01:30 of Scotland we'll see values down to around -10 to -12 degrees Celsius.
01:35 So a bitterly cold day, watch out for ice as well and the risk of ice as we head through
01:39 Wednesday.
01:40 You can see here snow showers will cluster together through the day pushing in particularly
01:44 across Caithness, Sutherland, Aberdeenshire, the western side of Scotland, some moving
01:48 in across Northern Ireland and a few just running down the Irish Sea so one or two just
01:53 could clip the western side of Wales.
01:56 More clouds across the far south of England, this is a weather system here which could
02:01 just skirt the south coast bringing with it a little bit of rain, perhaps even some snow
02:05 flurries as it engages with the colder air.
02:08 Most places though seeing dry weather with some sunshine, where you see the snow though
02:12 temperatures are going to struggle to get above freezing.
02:16 Through Wednesday evening and overnight it's pretty much a repeat performance, you can
02:19 see clear skies across many areas, a severe frost yet again, further snow showers moving
02:24 in across Northern Ireland, again some moving across towards Wales, some clipping the eastern
02:29 side of Scotland as well, skirting north east England, perhaps just that tip of Norfolk.
02:35 Inland though it's clear and also very cold, temperatures similar to the last few nights,
02:42 -5, -6 Celsius, much lower than that where you've seen the snow.
02:46 So that's the picture on Thursday morning, through Thursday daytime we watch as further
02:51 snow showers move in, penetrating inland as well across Scotland, again clipping the east
02:56 coast as well as the west coast inland, it's sunny spells and that frost slowly lifting
03:01 through the day across more southern areas, remaining in the ground further north, here
03:05 temperatures 1 to -1.
03:08 So Thursday afternoon is pretty similar, on Friday we'll see more showers move in across
03:13 Scotland, a mix of rain and snow, all change into the weekend though, it turns wet and
03:18 windy.
03:19 I'll see you later.
