Eric Legendre & Nicolas Taridec's Fatal Crash @ Rallye de Lohéac 1998 (Aftermath)

The second edition of the Rallye Régional du Pays de Lohéac, held on Sunday, 22 March 1998 in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany, northwestern France, was marred by a fatal accident that resulted in the deaths of two competitors.
Shortly before 12h00, driver Eric Legendre, 30-year-old, and his co-driver Nicolas Taridec, 25, died instantly when their Group N Peugeot 205 Rallye #79 left the road in a fast downhill curve and crashed into two trees, during the second special stage of the rally.
No spectators were involved in the crash. 73 car entered in the rally had started the first special stage on Sunday morning, on a seven-kilometer course which was to be driven five times, two in the morning and three in the afternoon. After the tragedy, the special stage was immediately stopped and the remainder of the day's rally events were called off.
A member of the Écurie Bretagne, the driver Eric Legendre was reported to be from Thorigné-Fouillard, a small village in the Ille-et-Vilaine department. He and Taridec raced together for two years.
