Europa League Game Temporarily Suspended After ‘Huge Blast’ As Fans Launch Multiple Fireworks

Crowd trouble has continued in Napoli during their Champions League match against Union Berlin as fireworks have been launched into the away fans section.

There were reportedly earlier clashes between the fans overnight in Naples as local police made several arrests.

Napoli ultras then decided to continue the fighting into this afternoon building up to the game.

The Italian fans have been reportedly throwing fireworks into the Union Berlin supporter section, Sky Sport Italia reports.

A statement was read out at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona that if this continued the game would be suspended as explosions sounded off.

The two sides ended up drawing their match 1-1 which is a great result for the German side.

Matteo Politano opened the scoring for the home side in the 39th minute.

However, Chelsea loanee David Fofana turned in a saved shot in the 52nd minute to rescue a point.

Before the game, Napoli were heavily backed to make light work of Union Berlin at home tonight.

The reigning Serie A champions Napoli sit second in Group C of the Champions League with two wins from four appearances.

Their only loss came at the hands of Real Madrid in a 3-2 thriller at home last month.

Rudi Garcia's side did have a golden opportunity to all but solidify their place in second with a victory against the winless Union Berlin at home tonight, but the wait will go on.
