00:00 Spanish authorities confirmed on Sunday that firefighters made progress in their fights
00:04 against the wildfire ranging in Tenerife.
00:07 Local officials added that so far the fire has a perimeter of 70 kilometers and it has
00:12 devastated 8,400 hectares, just over 4 percent, of the total area of Tenerife and afforded
00:19 the evacuation of more than 12,000 people.
00:23 The fire started on Tuesday in a mountainous area of northeast Tenerife and quickly became
00:28 the largest in the history of the Canary Islands.
00:31 Monser Roman, technical head of the operations, said the firefighters' nighttime operations
00:36 focus mainly on defending infrastructure and homes on the northern flank of the fire.
00:41 Roman added that there have been no further evacuations or confinement orders.
