00:00 Selenators are gearing up for a rare treat!
00:05 Selena Gomez is releasing a new track cleverly titled "Single Soon," and she's asking
00:10 fans to come and get it.
00:12 On Thursday, the OnlyMurdersInTheBuilding star teased the new song on Instagram, sharing
00:16 the cover photo for the tune and writing in her caption,
00:19 "Y'all have been asking for new music for a while.
00:22 Since I'm not quite done with SG3, I wanted to put out a fun little song I wrote a while
00:26 back that's perfect for the end of summer.
00:29 Single Soon, August 25th.
00:30 Pre-save it now."
00:33 Selena's new single comes on the heels of her hit song "Calm Down" with Rema, which
00:37 reached No. 1 on Billboard's Global Chart.
00:40 The "Lose You to Love Me" singer previously teased new music in June, sharing a photo
00:43 of her recording vocals, writing, "Don't worry guys, it's coming.
00:47 Even from Paris."
00:49 She also revealed the vibe of her new music in a February interview with Vanity Fair,
00:53 saying, quote,
00:54 "The music I'm doing right now is about real things that I'm walking through.
00:58 It's really powerful, strong, very pop.
01:00 The theme generally is freedom.
01:02 Freedom from relationships, freedom from the darkness."
01:05 Adding, "If I had my way, I would probably write ballads my whole life, but I want to
01:09 produce music that will make people smile."
01:12 This will be Selena's newest solo single in a year.
01:15 She released "My Mind and Me" in November ahead of the premiere of her documentary of
01:18 the same name.
01:19 AXIS Hollywood's Zuri Hall chatted with her at the premiere, and she admitted what
01:24 it was like to finally release the personal project, and revealed what she feared most
01:29 in her darkest moments.
01:30 Hi Selena, how are you?
01:32 You look amazing.
01:33 Thank you, and same.
01:34 First of all, congratulations on this project, and secondly, thank you for making it.
01:39 Like, I'm not going to get super emotional, but thank you for making it.
01:44 You know, it took a lot of brave vulnerability to share a story like this, your story.
01:49 And I just spoke with Alec, who said that you gave him full license to do what he would
01:53 with your story.
01:55 How much vulnerability, how much, if any, fear was there attached to that?
01:59 Oh yeah, I'm still scared actually.
02:01 It was very uncomfortable, to be honest, in moments, but then I feel like it was also
02:07 necessary.
02:08 I thought the story needed to be bigger than just me and my music.
02:14 I think it took a life of its own, and he just created the story that truly is my life
02:20 in a time capsule.
02:22 Your life in a time capsule, it is inspiring.
02:25 It's gut-wrenching.
02:26 You know, I ask this next question, and I don't ask it lightly, and only so much is
02:30 your comfortable sharing, but that log line behind us says, "Every breath, a breakthrough."
02:35 What does that mean for you?
02:37 And in your darkest moments of that struggle, what did you maybe fear most?
02:42 I think I was scared of myself.
02:44 The way I was treating myself, the way I was talking about my body, it breaks my heart
02:50 to think that's who I was.
02:53 And it was really heartbreaking for me to know that.
02:56 I hope I never, I just don't want anyone to feel what I feel or has walked through.
03:02 I feel like you, this can't not be an emotional moment for you.
03:08 What are you feeling right now, and why?
03:10 I'm very nervous.
03:13 This has been exciting, but a little overwhelming, to be honest.
03:15 I think I am still a little shaky, but I'm excited to be here, and I'm happy that it's
03:20 going to be released.
03:22 Really quickly, anyone struggling at home who may be watching and going through something
03:26 similar who may feel like their darkest days are still ahead, what would you say to them?
03:31 What would you encourage them with?
03:32 I would encourage them to be not afraid to seek help, but at the same time, learn about
03:38 it, understand what it is, because once you have the knowledge of what you're going through,
03:42 you're less afraid of it.
03:44 So I would say learn as much as you can.
