Tributes to popular bookmaker Tommy N after suffering a heart attack while working at Ayr's on Saturday. He is 90 years old.

The eponymous n celebrated 60 years as a track setter in 2017, and Ayr honored his service by naming a race. He is a regular on all Scottish tours and some tours in the north of England.

Just before the second game, he collapsed near his seat near the parade ground. Paramedics cared for him before he was taken to nearby Ayr Hospital, but he was with his son and daughter that night.

Ayr PR Director Iain Ferguson said: "Tommyn is one of the real names in Scottish racing. He turned 90 earlier this year and is still working on most meetings at Ayr and other Scottish tours.

"He was treated after he collapsed in the second game on Saturday and was taken to hospital where unfortunately he was later hospitalized.

"Our condolences and condolences go out to his family at this very difficult time. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a lovely person."

Other bookmakers paid tribute, including on CairnBet's Andy Stallard's blog.

The post read: "I think we've lost another staunch supporter of the hoop, Tommy N, who was still a favorite at 90 and is still on track today.

"I had a few minutes with him before we got involved and when he asked me about Cheltenham next week, you could see the twinkle in his eyes, you just knew he would love to be there And some of the people who stuff themselves into it will be these short.

"My condolences to Billy and all his family and friends; in your memory Tommy we intend to beat Honeysuckle on Tuesday."
