Pater Noster | The Lord’s Prayer | Holy Name University Chorale | 22 October 2016 | Lester Frederick G. Delgado, M.M.

In the Gospel of Luke, chapter 11, and in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 6, Jesus Christ teaches his disciples a prayer. Jesus taught us to not babble repeatedly in our prayers, because the Most High God knows what we need before we even ask it. God the Father knew us before we were born (Psalm 139:16). He is aware of us, down to the number of hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30). We pray in obedience and submission to His Will, as His Sovereign Plan and Will for each of us is revealed through the circumstances, conditions and limitations of our lives (Gospel of Luke 14:27, 33, Philippians 2:5-8.) He knows what is best for us as He fulfills His purpose for our lives, and that purpose is revealed to us through His answers to our prayers, the circumstances and events of our lives, which unfold as He has ordained them. Jesus demonstrated His acceptance of the Father’s Will for His life, even when His Father’s Will for Him was a painful and humiliating death on a cross (Gospel of Mark 14:32-36). The Will of God is greater than we can ask or imagine. He, "is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think." (Ephesians 3:20). Meditate on these words.

The Holy Name University Chorale of the Philippines performed, “Pater Noster,” (The Lord’s Prayer) at the Lanna International Choir Competition in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The competition category was A 1 - Mixed Choir, Difficulty Level I. This was on 22 October 2016. The Chorale won the GOLD III Diploma. The Chorale Director was Reverend Father Irvin B. Garsuta.

The music was composed by Professor Lester Frederick G. Delgado, M.M.. He teaches at Centro Escolar University. He conducts Globe Voices@Work, the official choir of Globe Telecommunication Company, Philippines. Professor Delgado has given choral clinics in Germany, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and Canada, and composed 10 books of liturgical music for use in the Roman Catholic Church.

Rev. Fr. Garsuta is a graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary (IHMS) – the Paring Bolanon (Boholano Priests). He is the resident artist of the Singing Priests Of Tagbilaran (SPOT). Rev. Fr. Garsuta is currently the Chairman of the Diocese of Tagbilaran Commission for Sacred Music.
