Rabindranath Tagore Death Anniversary: Remembering The Man Who Penned The National Anthem Of India

Asia's first Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, popularly known as Kabiguru or Gurudev, died in Calcutta (now Kolkata) on August 7, 1941. Considered to be the architect of Bengali literature, music and art, Rabindranath is being remembered today by the global fraternity for his contributions. Apart from his literary contributions, Gurudev was the one who penned down the national anthem of India - Jana Gana Mana - which we sing with utmost pride and Bangladesh's Amar Shonar Bangla.
