A man with no arms and no previous training has become a Taekwondo master in China in one year. Zhang Yilong is from the village of Liancheng County, in the municipal region of Longyan, in China’s southeastern Fujian province. According to the national newspaper China News, Zhang comes from a poor family and his parents are old and sick, the family mainly depends on growing rice and vegetables to make ends meet. In order to take care of his parents, he chose to work as an electrician in a county industrial park company next to the village. Five years ago, Zhang accidentally touched a high-voltage power supply and received an intense electric shock, leading to both his arms being amputated just after the elbow. Zhang told China News that he felt like: "the sky was falling in" when he realised he had lost his arms.
