Bs. As .: With the basic objective of overcoming the bordering problems with Argentina, the president of Chile, Patricio Aylwin, arrived in the country towards the bilateral economic complementation. He was received at noon by his colleague Carlos Menem accompanied by the entire cabinet, where the official ceremony was held with the traditional surrender of military honors. Patricio Aylwin, 72 years old, became the first Chilean head of state to make an official visit to our country in the last 40 years, the last one had been General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo in 1953 although Salvador Allende, Eduardo Frei and Augusto Pinochet were in the country but on a different visit. At the air station, both leaders agreed that the 23 border points that are pending so far will be solved peacefully, and especially that of Lago del Desierto. In the afternoon, the trans-Andean president paid tribute to the liberator general of San Martin in the plaza that bears his name, together with the mayor Carlos Grosso. After the intonation of the national anthems of both countries, the ceremony for the decoration of the flag of the Grenadier Regiment on Horseback was carried out with the cross of order of General O'Higgins and the Chilean president also placed a floral offering. After this, the trans-Andean president went to the Government House where he held the first working meeting with the President of the Nation, Carlos Menem. Simultaneously with the greeting in the White Room of the Government House with the delegation, in the situation room, the Chilean and Argentine delegations deliberated in search of coincidence for the economic agreements, the creation of a mixed parliamentary commission and also the possibility of updating the legislation for the border transit of people and merchandise.
