People of Color Are Exempt From
Wearing Masks in Oregon County Lincoln County, Oregon, has concerns
about masks and racial profiling. The county, whose residents are nearly 90% white,
said it will not require non-white residents
to wear masks if they fear harassment. It is one of the first counties in the U.S.
to address the discomfort felt by people
of color in regards to wearing masks. Activists told CNN in April that
many Black and Latino Americans
felt that wearing a mask could lead
to them being perceived as criminals. People with disabilities or
select medical conditions and children
under the age of 12 will also be exempt.
