Wawrinka crushed, Djokovic through to second round

MANILA, Philippines – Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka was found wanting at the French Open after being beaten by Spain's Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the first round. The Swiss third seed looked second rate against a man ranked 41st in the world who has never gone past the third round at Roland Garros. The surface on the Philippe Chatrier Show Court had been criticized for being too saturated after several days of rain, and Wawrinka got bogged down in the heavy conditions against an inspired opponent. Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic won over Portugal’s Joao Sousa. -- Mornings @ ANC, May 27, 2014.
