FBI Arrests Leader of Armed Militia 'Detaining' Migrants at Southern Border Larry Mitchell Hopkins, 69, is the leader of the United Constitutional Patriots, UCP. He was arrested by the FBI on Saturday in Sunland Park, NM, on charges of being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. His arrest followed a Facebook live video in which members of UCP appeared to be holding migrants against their will. The group claims its objective is to "uphold the Constitution of the United States." UCP regularly patrols the U.S., Mexico border to protect citizens "against all enemies both foreign and domestic.” Armed with rifles and dressed in camouflage, the group has helped U.S. Border officials detain more than 5,000 migrants in recent months. U.S. CBP statement, 'The Washington Post' Hopkins has been quoted as saying that America was "built on three things: God, guns and guts."
