Inspiriert durch eine eindrückliche Norwegen-Tour gehen Sister Jones, drei Jahre nach ihrem Achtungserfolg „Number 9“ erneut ins Studio, um an ihrem dritten Album „Breathe“ zu arbeiten. Eine Neubesetzung an Bass, Posaune und Backgroundgesang stellt die Band auf frische Beine. Die kraftvolle Stimme Linda Mühlbachers unterstreicht die Botschaften, lässt neue Facetten im Sister-Jones-Universum entdecken.
Das Album ist wie gewohnt angereichert mit versteckten Beatles-Zitaten. Zum Beispiel in Form des bitterbösen Songs „Lenny Pain“, oder dem Titel der LP: „Breathe“. Als John Lennon zum ersten Mal seiner großen Liebe, Yoko Ono, gegenüberstand, überreichte sie ihm eine Karte mit dieser schlichten Aufforderung.
Für die Band ergibt der Titel darüber hinaus Sinn: Ihre Reise auf die naturgewaltigen Lofoten war größte Inspiration für das neue Werk. Das raue Klima, die Sagen, das Meer. Diese Eindrücke haben Sister Jones aus einer vorangegangenen, tief sitzenden Sinnkrise befreit.
Sister Jones have been strolling nimble-footedly through Austria‘s musical landscape since 2011, dancing deftly between heartbreaking Soul Music and rock-hard, well, Rock‘n‘Roll. Writing and performing music that has been unheard of until today. Grand pop music without mainstream, strong individualism minus (too much) stubbornness, with lyrics reminding us strongly of Tom Waits and other Dark Poets. Sister Jones‘ adoration belongs to The Beatles, and the quotations are many. See the bands‘ debut „Paul is Dead“, as well as the current publication „Number 9“.
