Thotta tamil movie stars Jeevan and Priyamani in the lead roles.
Thotta opens with how a boy Shanmugham (Jeevan), comes to Chennai with his mother in search of his father (Raj Kapoor). They see him living with another wife and in a hussle he s the old wife. He is saved by an auto driver (Chandrasekar) and later 'adopted' by DCP Murugavel (Sampath Kumar). The officer names Jeevan as Thotta and brings him up as a ruthless rowdy, who would eliminate anybody on demand. Life goes on smoothly till Thotta meets Nalina (Priyamani), who is the daughter of the auto driver. He feels indebted and tries to help the family. He helps her without revealing his real identity. He promises her to get her a job in police department, which is her dream. For this he s a minister who is a big rival of the chief minister (Livingston) at the instance of Murugavel. But when Nalina goes to Murugavel for the job, he demands her to sleep with him. Thotta revolts and subsequently the mentor and the disciple become enemies. How Shanmugham overpowers this and whether Nalina becomes a police officer forms the climax of the story.
