Timelapse Shows Smoke, Flames Rising From California's Mendocino Complex Fire

A wildfire spread fast among hills west of the town of Lakeport, California, on July 28 and 29, destroying buildings and sparking multiple evacuation orders as it threatened thousands more.The so-called Mendocino Complex fire started on July 27 and was comprised of two fires: the River Fire and the Ranch Fire. This timelapse footage shows flames and smoke from both fires spreading over the hills next to Clear Lake on July 28 and 29.California Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr declared a state of emergency for the affected areas on July 28.On July 31, fire officials said the two fires had grown to a combined size of more than 74,000 acres, had destroyed 10 buildings and were threatening more than 12,000 other structures.
