Volcanic Activity Continues at Kilauea on the Big Island
  • 6 years ago
Since Hawaii's Kilauea volcano began erupting over a week ago, 19 new fissures have opened in the area, spewing molten lava.
The volcano on Hawaii's Big Island started erupting on May 3rd, and hasn't relented, which has the US Geological Survey concerned that an explosion may occur.
So far, officials on the Big Island have evacuated about 2,000 people from the Leilani Estates subdivision in the Lower Puna area.
