7th Generation (2001-2005) Honda Civic SRS Airbag Code 9-3 Fix - Faulty Seat Belt Buckle Switch

  • 6 yıl önce
Video demonstrating the replacement of a commonly problematic drivers side seat belt buckled in a 7th generation Honda Civic and the 2nd generation Acura 1.7EL. This procedure applies to all 2001-2005 model years and is essentially the same for the sedan and coupe models. \r
\r
The root cause of SRS airbag system related issues is usually linked to a faulty seat belt uation switch in the drivers seat buckle. Tell tale signs of the failure is the SRS indicator coming on and not going out each time the car is started. Unless the vehicle has been in a previous collision where the SRS system repairs were not conducted properly odds are that the failure is linked to this VERY COMMON part. \r
\r
I strongly advise against buying this part used as these cars are approaching 14 years old so if your car has this failure then odds are other cars are as well.\r
\r
The drivers seat buckle is a CRITICAL part of the car that should not be neglected as it does contain a pre-tensioner assembly, SRS trigger and the electronic connections for the fasten seat belt indicator light. If the buckled is faulty it will not allow the SRS system to deploy airbags in the event of a catastrophic collision to protect the occupants. \r
\r
The part itself is VIN dependent as per Honda so youll need to provide the dealership with the right info. The part is also VERY expensive costing over $300 CAD but well worth the money over used because youll likely just replace it this one time.\r
\r
When servicing the seatbelt buckle, take your time and follow the included instructions from Honda to the EXACT word. \r
\r
When handling the old and new buckle assemblies DO NOT drop or mishandle them as they are charged with high pressure gas (as you can see by the long cylinder attached to the buckle assembly). \r
\r
To reset the SRS system you can either take it to the dealership, a local auto parts store to reset. If youre patient the SRS system will eventually reset the light on its own (through self diagnostics) or you could use the manual jumper reset method which I dont suggest for those not familiar with the SRS system. I can post the manual method IF someone really wants me to show them on this video.\r

Good luck,
