“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has become the highest-grossing film of all time in North America, taking just 20 days to shatter the domestic record set by “Avatar” in 2009.
Disney said Wednesday afternoon’s box office results showed that the latest “Star Wars” movie had surpassed the $760.5 million lifetime gross of “Avatar” in the United States and Canada.
