The 1996 ITC Diepholz round was the sixth round of the 1996 International Touring Car Championship season. It took place on 7 July at the Diepholz Airfield Circuit.
Gabriele Tarquini suffered a huge crash, While he was in fught for position, his Alfa Romeo 155 ITC cut the chicane and lost control. The car flyover and then crashed into the protective fence and rolled over. Fortunately, even though the accident looked horrible, Tarquini came out of the car unhurt.
