Girls In Cameroon Turn Chicken Droppings Into Renewable Energy

by Jeff DonlanStudents in Cameroon are learning to turn waste into renewable energy. An NGO called The Green Girls Project is teaching young women how the process works.Discarded fruit, grass, and even chicken droppings are transformed into a source of power. The waste is ground together and poured into a biodigester. The mixture is then broken down by bacteria to produce a renewable energy called biogas. Biogas can be used for cooking, heating, and powering small generators. The project could be a game changer for the Cameroonian population, more than half of which doesn’t have access to electricity.
