French girl, 19, live streams suicide by jumping under a train on Periscope

EGLY, FRANCE — French officials have opened an investigation after a 19-year-old girl killed herself live on social media.
The unidentified teenager threw herself under a train at Egly station, 25 miles south of Paris, on Tuesday while broadcasting on live streaming app Periscope, the New York Times reported.
The girl spent more than two hours on Periscope on Tuesday, split into five sessions, according to the New York Daily News.
She said her name was Océane and she worked in a retirement home, according to the New York Times. The girl smoked cigarettes, played with her cat, and spoke about a difficult relationship with her ex-boyfriend.
Local prosecutors said the girl sent a text message to a friend of her ex-boyfriend, saying she would kill herself because he had raped and abused her, the New York Times reported.
The girl's final broadcast lasted 29 minutes and seems to have been filmed right up to the moment she committed suicide, according to the New York Daily News.
The video has been removed from Periscope but excerpts could be viewed on other video sites, including YouTube, on Thursday.
Police have seized the girl's phone and an autopsy will be carried out within the next few days, according to the New York Daily News. Investigators said the girl's relatives described her as emotionally fragile and confirmed she had a difficult relationship with her ex-boyfriend, according to the New York Times.
