Man strangles woman on Southwest flight for daring to recline her seat

LOS ANGELES — With shrinking domestic flight seats and almost nonexistent legroom, one burning question could make or break a passenger freakout: to recline, or not to recline?
One man on a Southwest Airlines, it seems, is firmly on the side of "not", after having a mid-air meltdown over one recliner on his flight. KQED reports that Southwest Airlines flight 2010 from LA to San Francisco was already running late when it left around 10 p.m. Sunday.
Things turned ugly minutes after takeoff, when a man in his 30s, wearing glasses and in business attire, started choking the woman sitting in front of him for tilting her seat back, according to NBC Bay Area.
While the woman panicked and screamed, witnesses say the man remained calm throughout the whole episode. Crew members came to the woman's aid and helped restrain the man, and the fracas caused the pilot to turn the plane around. An emergency landing was made at LAX, where police were waiting to detain the man for questioning. No arrests have been made, as the FBI is still investigating the incident.
USA Today reports that the remaining 136 passengers were transferred to another plane and eventually arrived in San Francisco five hours later than planned.
