Israel fights UNESCO resolution to designate Western Wall a Muslim holy site

Israel is working to foil a proposal by the Palestinians to establish the Western Wall as part of the al-Aqsa Mosque complex.
The proposal will be put to vote by UNESCO on Wednesday.
The Foreign Ministry is working with friendly countries and across the heads of UNESCO to thwart the Palestinian effort.
In an statement Israel's Foreign Ministry said that the proposal is “an attempt to redraw history and blur the connection between the Jewish people and its holiest place and to create a false reality.”
In addition to declaring the Western Wall part of the al-Aqsa mosque, the proposal calls for international condemnation of Israel's encouragement to its citizens to carry arms in response to the latest terror wave and condemnation for the actions of Israeli forces in Jerusalem, which they call the "occupied capital of Palestine."
