Main character: Elif, A Muslim girl
Glimpse Of The Drama:
ELIF (ALIF:الف) is a Turkish Drama whose story encircles the Muslim girl (nick named Elif). To become a "doctor" was her utmost desire but.......But the radical narrow-mindedness of her father and the community to not let females educated, deeply darkened her way. Her sister was full-time jealous of Elif. The only co-operative person in her family was Elif's mother......& outside family, a 2-star Inspector
She was forcefully engaged to the son of a 3-star-Inspector to whom she never liked; she had craze to become a Doctor(Actually her cruel father SOLD her daughter to the MONEY & "modern" sick customs of Turkish society). Cruel family of her fiancé........!
Finally with her hard-work, she got admission @ Medical Dept. of Istanbul University........but kept it a secret.............After a long long struggle (& yes...! Opression) she got permission to do medical.
But who knew, another bunch of problems was waiting....
"No Lady Can Get Education At University Until She Puts Off her HIJAB !!!"
Turkey was being Europeonised & was introducing Secularism, leaving behind Islamic -Culture & Teachings !!!
Elif, her HIJAB, ISLAM & her passion to become a Doctor.......all these confronted the sick (so-called Modern/European) customs of Turkey
