Telemarketers Under FCC Scrutiny For Continuing Unwanted Calls

The FCC is currently assessing proposals to further block telemarketers from contacting the public with unwanted calls and deceptive practices.

Despite the implementation of the Do Not Call list by the U.S. government 12 years ago, people are still receiving unwanted solicitations.

Last year, the Federal Communications Commission, or FCC, logged more than 215,000 complaints from citizens about telemarketing violations.

They involve robocalls and automated dialing systems that attempt to sell various products.

An especially concerning method is called spoofing where companies are able to contact people by displaying a deceptive name on their caller ID.
