I Got 5 on It" is the title of a rap song by hip hop duo Luniz, taken from their album Operation Stackola. The song has become their most famous to date, and helped make Operation Stackola their best-selling album. The single was certified platinum by the RIAA on October 31, 1995 for individual sales of one million copies. It samples Club Nouveau's "Why You Treat Me So Bad" (1986), Kool and the Gang's "Jungle Boogie" (1973) and Audio Two's Top Billin' (1987). The remix to the song, which can be found on the CD single, featured an extensive list of artists from the Bay Area including Dru Down, E-40, Richie Rich, Shock G, and Spice 1.

I got 5 on it" is a phrase used to mean putting in five dollars along with another person to buy a dime bag, i.e. ten dollars worth of marijuana. The lyrics in the original song clearly convey this meaning.

“Kinda broke so ya know all I gots five, I got five”

“Unless you pull out the phat, crispy five dollar bill on the real before its history” “I got 5 on it, let's go half on a sack”

Later remixes attempt to modify the original meaning. In Dru Down's remix he states the “5” can refer to $500 for the particularly wealthy, while Numskull suggests the practice can also be used to assist in paying for alcoholic beverages such as Hennessy, Seagrams or 40's.

Luniz is a platinum-selling Oakland rap duo formed by rappers Yukmouth and Numskull. They released an internationally successful hit in 1995 entitled "I Got 5 on It", two versions of which appear on their album Operation Stackola. A third version of the song, featuring Oakland rappers Dru Down, Shock G, Richie Rich, E-40, and Spice 1 and often found on the Internet as the Bay Area Ballas Remix, has also garnered radio play. Luniz were going to be featured on Tupac Shakur's One Nation project. Due to Shakur's death the album was never released.
