Israeli teen murders: Hamas abductors shot down by IDF forces in Hebron

The manhunt for two Palestinians suspects behind the abduction and murder of three Israeli teens in June ended in a shootout with Israeli forces early on Tuesday. Marwan Qawasmeh and Amer Abu Aisheh, both of whom were affiliated with Hamas, were killed during a capture attempt in Hebron.
The disappearance of the Israeli teens in June this year sparked an extensive search in the West Bank, leading the to the arrest of hundreds of Palestinians with ties to Hamas.
The operation was conducted in Hebron by the Shin Bet and troops from the Yamam
police counter-terrorism unit. The Israeli forces were led to the men’s hideout in a two-story building in Hebron and exchanged fire with the two suspects after they reportedly refused to surrender. Israel believes that Abu Aisheh and Qawasmeh were killed in the exchange.
“We opened fire, they returned fire and they were killed in the exchange,” Israeli Defence Forces spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner told Reuters.
An armoured bulldozer was used to plow down the home where the two suspects were hiding, according to Israel’s Channel 10 News.
