Tim bought this toy in Japan, back in the 1980s. It is a game for two players, where you each place a finger on one of the two triggers. Every time you pull the trigger, the plastic rod moves a tiny amount towards you, and every time your opponent pulls their trigger, the rod moves a tiny amount towards them. You start with the red ball above the central pointer, and you each pull the trigger as many times as you can, as fast as you can, until the red ball has moved all the way towards one of the of the two figures; they are then judged the winner, and you can re-set the rod, ready for another game.
