Baltimore cop pulls taser, shot in stomach by Donte Jones with .357 magnum

Baltimore police officer Andrew Groman is in stable condition after being shot in the stomach with a .357 revolver during a traffic stop on Sunday. The man charged with shooting Groman is Donte Jones.
Jones, 19, was a passenger in a silver Cadillac in West Baltimore when an officer in the gas station smelled weed smoke coming from the car and called it in.
Two patrol cars, including the one Groman as in, stopped the Cadillac in the 2600 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway. The driver complied when Groman, 27, told him to get out and sit on the sidewalk. But when Groman told Donte Jones to show his hands, Jones didn’t respond.
That’s when Groman told Jones, “Show me your hands or I’m going to tase you.” He didn’t know Jones was gripping a loaded gun. Jones drew a revolver and fired three rounds, one hitting Groman below the vest. Groman fired his taser but evidently missed.
Jones fled the scene on foot but was tased by two other officers trying to scale a fence.
Officer Groman is in stable condition. Jones was out on parole and probation and due to appear in court Tuesday for a gun charge dating back to June of this year.
