Australian hostage-taker had violent, unsettled past

Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott joins Sydney residents in morning the loss of two victims of a hostage incident.

Tori Johnson, the 34 year old manager of the cafe where the siege took place, and Katrina Dawson, a 38 year old mother and lawyer both lost their lives in the incident.

Abbott said the attacker, identified by a police source as Man Haron Monis, had a history of extremism and described him as deeply disturbed.
