Two cops in Minnesota were recently involved in a collision with a semi truck. On Monday evening, the sliding rig struck the squad cars on an interstate near the city of Rogers.

A local police officer and a state trooper were responding to a jackknifed semi when the other truck barreled towards the parked cruisers and slid right into them.

At the time of the crash, the road had glare ice, which is when the surface appears smooth and glassy. While both cops were in there vehicles at the time of the collision, officer Jarred Peterson was transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure. He has since been released.

According to Rogers Police Chief Jeffrey Beahan, it’s not believed Peterson suffered from internal bleeding or broken bones. The state trooper wasn't seriously injured and didn't require hospitalization.

Miraculously, the truck driver also wasn’t hurt. An investigation will be launched to determine if any charges will be filed in the case.

Beahen said many motorists weren't respecting driving conditions and going too fast on Monday night. He remarked, “It’s Minnesota and it’s winter and it’s our first snow, so slow down. The general rule for driving is you have to be in control of your vehicle. You have to be able to stop that vehicle.”
