Taylor Swift's "1989" hits No.1 on the charts

As expected the force of nature known as Taylor Swift debut at No. 1 on the album charts with "pop" record "1989." Her new release moved close to 1.3 million copies in its first week, according to Billboard's album chart.

That's the largest debut for a record since 2002.

The critically praised "1989" marks Swift's fifth studio album and is her fourth record to hit No. 1.

Her strong showing is seen a needed boost to struggling recording industry.
