The "Pit Bull" -- State prosecutor Gerrie Nel -- has ferociously painted Pistorius as a gun-obsessed hot head, saying he killed his girlfriend in a fit of rage on Valentine's Day last year.
But under intense heat, Pistorius maintains that he fired through the bathroom door to defend himself against an intruder -- not realizing that his girlfriend was behind that door.
