Olympic torch visits the Holy Land

The torch that will be used to light the Olympic flame at the Opening Ceremony on July 27 landed in Israel on Monday for a two-day visit. The torch will be on display at Tuesday's Olympic sports event in Haifa. This is the first time the torch has reached Israel on its way to the Olympic Games, and on Thursday, the torch will be lit in the ancient city of Olympia in Greece, where it will be borne by some 500 runners through 34 Greek cities before being flown to London.
