Staffers from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service recently helped save two brick workers who were stranded about 75 feet high outside a building in Bethesda, Maryland.

The incident happened at approximately 11 on Wednesday morning at the National Institutes of Health Building 10 after a piece of scaffolding partially collapsed.

A fire truck was driven to the scene to assist them. The vehicle’s ladder had been outstretched to reach the brick workers.

The pair was secured and brought down to safety. Fortunately neither one was hurt, but they were transported to Suburban Hospital for a check over as a precaution.

Their safety harnesses are likely responsible for preventing them from sustaining serious injuries and possibly even death. When the scaffolding tipped towards the side, the duo only fell about a foot thanks to that safety equipment.

A portion of Building 10 was evacuated while Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel secured the collapsed scaffolding. No one else was injured in the rescue effort.
