Rock Revolution review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Rock Revolution for the Nintendo DS developed by Zoë Mode and HB Studios and published by Konami.
Even when rhythm games were on top, there had to be some on the bottom. Released at the height of the rhythm game fad, Rock Revolution is one of the many examples of the gaming industry trying to cash in on the trend. This DS version features half the songs of the console release, and without the plastic instruments, is played entirely by touch. Players can play four ways—guitar, bass, drums or vocals. The vocals are performed by singing into the microphone built into the Nintendo DS, while all three instruments require a variety of tapping and swiping on the touch screen. Rock Revolution features a career mode, similar to that in Guitar Hero, as well as a free play mode that lets you play any unlocked song you’d like. Rock Revolution was widely criticized for its music, as it features no original tracks and has extremely poor sound quality. Rock Revolution offers single-player play on the Nintendo DS, as well as single and multi-cartridge wireless multiplayer.
