Israeli motorist killed in West Bank shooting

In the West Bank, an Israeli man has been shot dead after his car came under attack from gunfire close to Hebron.

Israeli media said the driver’s wife and children were also in the vehicle, including his nine year-old daughter who was injured in the incident. The family was reportedly en route to celebrate the Jewish festival of Passover.

Witnesses reported at least one man armed with an automatic rifle, wearing a black helmet, opened fire on several cars near Hebron city.

The shooting comes only a day after Jewish settlers were controversially awarded a disputed house in Hebron after a protracted ownership battle.

Despite Palestinian objections Israel’s supreme court declared three Jewish families, who moved in under heavy armed protection on Sunday, the property’s legal owners.
